Long Overdue Update!

We have been the busy little family lately. Both Brady and I have returned to school for the fall semester. Brady is taking 15 credits and I am taking 8 credits, quite the load I know…we love school what can I say. I will be graduating next April, which I'm very excited about. I love school and will miss it immensely when I am done, but it is quite the challenge going to school while also fulfilling my responsibilities as a full time mom. Brady is such a big help and watches Spencer while I'm away at school, I don't know what I would do without my hubby.

Speaking of school, Brady and I discussed his career goals over the summer and came up with a brilliant plan for his schooling. Brady will be taking a whopping 45 credits each year, yep you heard me right. He will be taking 15 credits each, fall, winter, and summer, with the occasional 18 credit semester. This will allow him to graduate sooner and begin teaching, which he is itching to do. He is also looking to transfer to BYU next year, so we have been busy planning his transfer. So far we just have the plan for his bachelor degree figured out. His plan after receiving his Bachelor degree is to teach high school and acquire his Masters degree while attending night school. After which, he will go to school to acquire his Doctorate and will then teach college (we aren’t sure on the timing). Right now he is studying History and will most likely teach History up into College, he loves history. Brady is such a hard worker and I’m so grateful for his willingness to go the extra mile to graduate soon. We still aren’t sure where we will end up living; we are open to many options and look forward to where his career will take us.

In other news, Spencer is doing extremely well. He is such a curious boy, which I hear most boys are. He is constantly getting into everything and pulling apart whatever he can get his hands on. Needless to say, on a normal day you would find me chasing him all over the house (while he giggles of course) and cleaning up his messes. He is quite the handful, but I absolutely love being his mother! He found his nose last week and started to dig around with his finger. It was really hard not to laugh, so of course it encouraged the behavior. However, apparently he didn’t find any gold because he no longer takes the time to go digging, phew. We have been teaching Spencer sign language from the very beginning. Currently he signs “milk” and “eat”; it’s the cutest thing to watch. He is a very bright little boy and learns very quickly. This week I will be teaching him some new signs, so we will see how that goes. All in all, Spencer is a joy and a blessing and we are so grateful he is a part of our family.

I finished off my last year and half at BYU the same way. I went fall, winter, spring, summer, fall, winter...graduation. It really burned me out (especially that last winter semester), but I saved money and time. I also learned that I loved the spring and summer semesters. In fact, given the opportunity to do it over again I would have skipped either fall or winter (or alternate) and attend spring and summmer instead. The class size is smaller. There are less people on campus. And during finals you only have to remember 2 months back instead of 4. The faster schedule feels a little like drinking from a fire hose, but I actually like learning that way.
