I was going to begin this post with an apology to the blog
world and my small audience. Then I got to thinking, I really shouldn’t feel so
guilty nor should I feel the need to apologize for my lack of blog updates. For
Pete’s sake, I’m a Mom. And no I’m
not “just a Mom,” I wear the name of Mom proudly. So begins my post after my
two-year blog hiatus.
It can be rather difficult to sum up two years in one post.
Instead of attempting to fill you in on every detail, I will share with you
some of the highlights. Now that I’m thinking about it, life is vastly
different now than it was when I wrote my previous post. Here goes writing
about two-years in one day.
Brady graduated with his bachelor degree in History
Education from Utah Valley University. A short while after, Brady was offered a
US History teaching job at South Hills Middle School. We bought a house in
South Jordan, in a thriving family friendly area. We fell in love with our neighborhood and ward
instantly. We have all made life
long friends and count our blessings daily for the opportunities that brought
us here. Brady and I were guilty of often uttering the words, “we will never
raise a family in Utah.” Well, did we ever eat our words! We have enjoyed raising
our children here in Utah; in fact, we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a
true testimony to me that if we rely on the Lord he will place us in
circumstances that will bless our families in ways we never could have dreamed.
Moving right along. In September 2012, our third child,
Lincoln Scott joined our family. His arrival was no easy feat. I walked around
dilated between 4cm-6cm for weeks.
Many individuals, including my OB made jokes that I surely would give
birth to him in the car. While
that would have made for an interesting story, I’m glad that’s not how
Lincoln’s birth transpired. That is a story I’ll save for another post, one I’m
looking forward to writing.
We kept very busy for two years, filling our days with
t-ball, baseball, dance, pre-school, kindergarten, church callings, park
outings and the like. We really
enjoyed being involved in our new community. As I look back I think our move to
South Jordan was the beginning of a new chapter for the Shaw Family. Many doors
closed as we left our Provo student life, quite honestly doors we were ready to
close. When we settled into our new home we were overwhelmed with the many
opportunities that presented themselves to our family. We have lived in our home for about a
year and half, and yet it feels as though we have made a lifetime of memories
in such a short time frame. Our family has flourished in these last few years. We look onward with enthusiasm for the
upcoming days and opportunities that will arise.
