Memory 1: Everyday without fail he is saying “Hi” to strangers and all familiar faces. For example, I open the window every morning to let in the cool air, which is an invitation for Spencer to lean against the window sill and say or rather shout “Hi” to every person he sees (no matter how distant). The people he says “Hi” to can’t help but respond with a kind hello. Spencer is elated with every return of hello from smiling friends and strangers. On many occasions Spencer will shout “Hi” multiple times to the same person ensuring their knowledge of his presence. He is the friendliest little boy; he has no fear and has taught me a great deal about sharing our hello’s and smiles with others. It’s no wonder we are taught to become like little children, they are so humble and so full of love. It’s a great blessing to be a part of these little ones lives; they teach us so much and don’t even realize it.
Memory 2: To understand the humor of the next memory I must give some background information. We have a set bedtime routine that all of us look forward to each night. We sing songs and/or read a book, say a prayer, give kisses, and say “night, night” to Spencer every night. We love our routine and wouldn’t change a thing. One of our favorite moments during this routine is singing songs together. For a long time Spencer has been making the necessary motions to go along with the songs (songs include: The Itsy Bitsy Spider (or Eensie Weensie Spider), The Monkey and Alligator song, The Popcorn song, The Wheels on the Bus, and various Primary songs, etc.). Now he is attempting to sing the words to the songs while making the motions along with us. His favorite song to sing right now and one that he requests to sing most nights is “The Wheels on the Bus.” For those of you who haven’t sung this song before there are many different versus and actions describing the different things that go on during a bus ride (i.e. the wheels on the bus go round and round...
Due to the large number of different versus and actions that go along with this song I often times find myself stretching the word “the...”(sounds more like “thuhhh…”) in between the versus as long as necessary in order to remember the next verse like so, “The wheels on the bus go round and round Round and round, round and round The wheels on the bus go round and round All through the town…The……….
I could probably go on forever with memories that make me laugh. We love our little boy so much and love the cute personality he has taken on. We look forward to the new little personality that will be joining our family very soon.
Here are a few pics from his birthday:
