Beloved Grandma Pendleton

My dear Grandma Pendleton passed away on November 24, 2008. It was a bittersweet passing as we were sad to see her leave this earthy life, but were overwhelmed with joy as we thought of how jubilant she is with her family beyond the veil. My Grandma’s passing was not a bit of a surprise as she had been suffering with Alzheimer’s and Lou Gehrig's disease for quite some time now. The funeral ceremony was absolutely beautiful. All of her children spoke about her life with such honor. I learned so many knew things about my Grandma and was reminded of her sweet nature. Even during her last years of dealing with her diseases she never once became bitter or angry. She would ask everyone she came in contact with, “will you be my friend?” She was always as sweet as a child and so eager to learn.

Some of my favorite memories of my dear Grandma are when she would squeal in excitement every time she would see us. She loved to read stories to us, to play puzzles with us, and to take us on walks. She was a selfless loving person and I hope that I can emulate her sweet spirit in my life. I love you Grandma and look forward to seeing you again. And yes, Grandma, I will forever be your friend.
