Brady and I love being parents. It’s a very trying experience; however, it’s very rewarding. Spencer is now 7 weeks old. At his last doctors visit, which was about 2 weeks ago he weighed 6 lbs 9 oz and was 21 inches in length. At birth he was 5 lbs 12 oz and 18 ½ inches in length. His doctor is very pleased with his progress. Right now it looks like Spencer is going through a growth spurt because he is eating about every two hours. Preemies have smaller stomachs and so they eat more often. It takes Spencer 45 minutes to an hour to eat; this is due to the fact that his sucking reflex isn’t as developed as a full term baby. If you do the math that means I am breastfeeding about 9-12 hours out of the day. It pretty much consumes most of my time. Angie (Brady’s sister) came to visit a couple of weeks ago and she brought the seasons of Gilmore Girls for me to watch. So lately while I’ve been breastfeeding I have been watching Gilmore Girls. It’s been so much fun! I am dying to find out how much Spencer weighs, especially because of this growth spurt. But I have to be patient because his next doctor’s appointment isn’t until Oct. 2. I am so anxious to dress him in his adorable outfits. Every once in a while I try to put a cute outfit on him, but he just swims in them because he is still pretty small. Someday…

Days of Our Lives
We are officially Bloggers! This seems to be a great way to keep everyone updated on the events of the Shaw clan. Brady and I have now been married for over a year. Time sure does fly by! Marriage is a beautiful experience. It’s a blessing to experience life with your loved one right by your side. By far the best experience to date was giving birth to our beautiful baby boy. Spencer was born 5 weeks early on July 31st. Despite his early arrival, he was very healthy. Spencer is such a blessing. Brady and I have created our own little family, can you believe it! It feels like just yesterday that Brady and I went on our first date to Disneyland. We weren’t dating at the time, but we were really good friends and it was Brady’s first date as he had just turned 16. We had the time of our lives; it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

As soon as I get to dress him up I will be taking a million pictures. Well, the little dude is crying, time to eat.

I'm so happy to hear that Spencer is doing so well! Please, please, please don't hesitate to call if you need help of any kind. I know how exhausting it can be to spend that much time breastfeeding. Even though it seems like you're just sitting around, it's hard work! I can come by any time and run errands for you or hold the baby while you take a break or anything you want. Truly.
How wonderful that Spencer is growing so well. I sit and watch TV while I nurse Evan, too. It is the only time I get to sit down during the day, so enjoy it while you can. Plus you get to spend wonderful time with your little one, holding him, loving him, talking and singing to him, and making that eye contact that is so important for his development and his connection to you! I can't wait to see him in person, the pictures are adorable.
I'm so glad you guys have a blog now! It's so fun to hear about what you're up to. I can't wait to come and see how much Spencer has grown! Let me know if you need anything and thanks for all the pregnancy advice- what would i do without you? =)
