18 Months

Spencer is 18 months old and I can hardly believe how fast he is becoming a little boy. Just the other night he and I were sitting on our couch singing some bedtime songs when all of a sudden he burst into giggles. He thought some of the songs were hilarious. We were both laughing uncontrollably and couldn’t stop. It was one of those moments when you wish someone had a hidden camera so that you could watch the moment over and over again. It was in this moment that I realized how fast he is growing up. I don’t know when it happened, but my little baby boy transformed into a handsome toddler. It was as if the change happened within a blink; in one moment he is the tiny baby falling asleep in my arms and in the next moment he is the big boy laughing with me as we sing. It is an incredible opportunity to watch him grow and to see his personality develop with every lesson learned, story read, and toy explored.

Spencer loves...
  • to sing and babble to any song (he has always loved music)
  • to dance to music
  • to throw baseballs, or any toy for that matter
  • to be tickled
  • to laugh
  • to walk, he especially loves to hold our hands and walk (he walks like a pro now)
  • to play hide and seek with toys
  • to put shoes on his hands and pretend to walk on his hands
  • to read books (he really enjoys turning the pages)
  • to give kisses to Mom and Dad
Spencer signs with perfection...
  • Eat
  • More
  • Milk
  • Play
  • Sleep
  • Juice
  • All Done
  • Cereal
  • Choo-Choo Train
  • He even created his own signs to let us know when he needs a diaper change and to let us know he wants to watch his favorite Disney show Little Einsteins.
Spencer says:
  • Mom
  • Dad
  • Cheese
  • Wow
  • Ball
  • Dog
  • Keys
  • And he will attempt to repeat any new words we teach him
Spencer makes the following noises:
  • barking (apparently all animals bark, not just dogs)
  • Train choo-choo sounds
  • car sounds
  • ambulance sirens
  • vacuum sounds
Spencer can point to any of the following body parts when asked:
  • Nose
  • Ears
  • Eyes
  • Mouth
  • Teeth
  • Belly Button
  • Feet
